NYC commercial real estate group seeks experienced Director of Engineering. The Director of Engineering is responsible for all physical plant operations, maintenance and repair, and supervision of all engineering and mechanical staff. This is a management position, and the incumbent will interact with our clients, our executive management team, outside vendors and contractors. We are looking for someone with prior hands-on engineering experience, along recent management experience.
Areas of responsibility include exterior and interior building maintenance as relates to mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, infrastructure including HVAC, fire and life safety systems, vertical transportation, energy management, preventive maintenance and other building systems and equipment. You will interface with and oversee architects, engineers, contractors and their staff for all construction projects.
Requirements:
Prior mechanical engineering experience including a minimum of 5 years experience as a Chief Engineer, or similar role for multi-building portfolio.
Experience supervising, training and developing union employees for optimal performance. Familiarity with labor unions Local 32B and Local 94.
Advanced knowledge of all building codes and governmental requirements..
Ensuring that all required permits, licenses and certifications are obtained and posted.
Physical ability to walk and stand for long periods of time, bend, stretch, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Proficiency working with numbers, figures and statistical information, and ability to prepare budgets and reports.
Experience purchasing goods and services for inventory and resale, calculating markup percentages and ensuring job profitability.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
